Halfway between Los Gatos and Santa Cruz, Wrights Station is the kind of winery you stumble onto and immediately wonder why you hadn’t been coming for years. They specialize in estate grown Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with a tasting room and outdoor patio that overlook a six acre vineyard and the ridgelines of the Santa Cruz Mountains. It’s open Friday through Sunday, dogs and kids are welcome, and there’s a semi private space available for groups who want to make a proper occasion of it.
Reservations aren’t required, but they’re recommended, especially on weekends when the patio fills up fast. This is a great first stop on a longer day out, and the views set the tone for everything that follows.
House Family Vineyards: Saratoga
Their tagline is “Come for the wine, stay for the view,” and they mean it. House Family Vineyards sits at Izumi Point in Saratoga, with panoramic sightlines across Silicon Valley that make it genuinely hard to leave. The winery has deep roots in the local area, and that history shows up in how thoughtfully the whole experience is put together.

Savannah-Chanelle Vineyards: Saratoga
Savannah-Chanelle operates out of a historic barn in Saratoga, with villa grounds that look out over the Santa Clara Valley and a neighboring redwood forest. Open Thursday through Sunday, they run a casual portfolio tasting through their current releases, and wine club members get access to the scenic upper grounds on weekends. Most Saturdays there’s live piano in the tasting room, which gives the whole afternoon a slightly different energy.

Garrod Farms: Saratoga
Garrod Farms has been family owned since 1893, and it shows in the best possible way. This is an estate winery and working stables, which means you can taste Cooper-Garrod wines made from organically farmed on site grapes and then go for a guided trail ride through the vineyard with views of Silicon Valley below. There is genuinely nothing else like it in the Bay Area.
It’s a particularly great stop for groups who want something beyond the standard tasting room format. First time visitors tend to leave a little stunned that this place exists and that they hadn’t found it sooner.
